Refurbished, rebranded and resurrected – the Horse & Groom is now ready to play host to one of the most exciting artists of our times, as part of the first installment in a series of intimate parties. Its a rare opportunity to see an artist of this calibre in the loft space of an intimate 400 capacity venue, and combined with trademark Hang the DJ venue styling, extra sound and a 6am late license, this is guaranteed to be a really special evening.

Making serious waves on the scene since the tender age of 18, Kyle Hall was born into an outrageously musical family (check the bio, its insane), and then brought up and mentored by a plethora of detroit legends such as Omar S, Rick Wilhite & Theo Parrish. He has taken influence from his surroundings and formed his own individual style, a style that encapsulates the sound of modern day house music.

Once they close the gates at Victoria Park and Snoop Dogg says his goodbyes at a certain big Music festival taking place 15 mins down away. The Horse & Groom gets ready to present another US legend making a very rare exclusive London appearance at our special soiree. We’re very excited to announce that Eric Duncan aka Dr Dunks will be playing an exclusive three-hour set at the newly refurbished Shoreditch venue, with support from Pete Herbert and a collection of some of the finest party crews London has to offer. Three rooms of pure dancefloor bliss. We have been trying to get our one of fav djs/ producers Mr Duncan for a couple of years so intend to make this night a little bit special. Eric Duncan aka Dr Dunks is one half of legendary DJ duo Rub-n-Tug & also half of DFA’s Still Going. Dunks releases his secret weapons on the Keep it Cheap label, but he’s also “involved” with Japan’s mysteriousdisco-edit “C.O.M.B.i..” imprint. No matter the name though, the game remains unchanged: peak time party provider. Ever since coming up in his hometown of Los Angeles’ freestyle and hip-hop scene in the early 80s, Duncan has been a sound selector extraordinaire. With partner Thomas Bullock, he threw the notorious late 20th century Rub-n-Tug disco parties in downtown Manhattan, turning on a new generation of revellers to the sleazy pleasures of disco. He followed that up as the Saturday night resident at Passerby Bar, fuelling the party until Sunday morning. Be it slo-mo disco, incandescent funk, or banging house music, Duncan weaves it all together into a nightlife soundtrack. In the studio, Dunks has remixed everyone from LCD Soundsystem to Zero 7, the Beastie Boys to Coldplay, !!! to Roxy Music, Patrick Wolf to Grace Jones. Now it’s time for folks other than New York City’s 24 Hour Party People to get a dose of Dr. Dunks’s medicine. Forthcoming is the eagerly-anticipated Rub-N-Tug full-length album, as well as the first album from Still Going. All of which will be supplemented by even more releases on Keep It Cheap and C.O.M.B.i. Noice!- now it’s high time for London to get a dose of Dr. Dunks’s medicine.

Swayzak (Swayzak Recordings / Studio !K7)

Brown and Taylor formed back in 1993 and in those post-iron curtain times took much inspiration from the dark and cold eastern block. The Swayzak name came later as much inspired by Eastern Europe as it was Hollywood . . . this is indicative of the juxtaposition of Swayzak.

Before Googling and the Myspace Generation, information was spread by mouth and paper, reputations built on musical prowess and friendships. In 1997 they released their first vinyl “bueno/fukumachi” to much hulabaloo of the few who had picked up on their sound and luckily this was enough to inspire the young chaps to make more records on their self funded label. A call from a legend also had its part, Laurent Garnier’s“ beautiful and moody” answering machine comment gave them much confidence in their sound.

As things moved forward via strange twists they found themselves in 1998 releasing a debut album “Snowboarding in Argentina“ to much crtical acclaim. An album with one misguided aim to fund a snowboarding holiday,which put them on the road to bigger things, playing everywhere from Chile to Japan and quite a few place in between. Giant Festivals and miniscule clubs and bars, museums, fashion shows, Spanish cathedrals, and even a week long party in a Montreal loft. Regulars at Fabric in London and Watergate of Berlin: two of the world’s finest clubs – Swayzak keep filling floors.

One of the first artists to be released on Richie Hawtin’s Minus label with their Theorem collaborations and having released four albums on K7, the legendary compilations of Groovetechnology and Fabric 11 crossing the paths between minimalism, deep house, electro and pure pop. Swayzak have released and remixed for : K7, Minus, Pokerflat, Playhouse, Klang, Simple, Logisitc, Force Trax, Mille Plateaux and even Sony .Their songs have featured on several commericals, tv shows, and hundereds of compilations.

Their live shows are exactly that, never rehearsed and 100% improvised taking a journey like jazz did in the past. In these days of audio perfection Swayzak enjoy to be different, not quite playing the game as it should be played. Whilst embracing technology using unsynced laptops and outboard effects to create a dub inspired sound often much heavier than their studio works. They often play as a pair or with live vocals from collaborator Richard Davis and percussion from Francesco Brini..
